Southern Programme for IT (SPfIT)
Responsibilities for National Programme for IT implementation have passed from NHS Connecting for Health to strategic health authorities.
Detailed information on deployments in any given geographic area can now be obtained via the appropriate SHA.

Total Population Served: 13 million
The region comprises the counties of Kent, Surrey, East & West Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Devon, and Cornwall & Isles of Scilly.
In July 2006, the seven southern SHAs merged into three - South West SHA, South Central SHA and South East Coast SHA - covering 93 organisations:
- 31 Primary Care Trusts PCTs
- 5 Ambulance Trusts
- 43 Acute Trusts (including 25 Foundation Trusts)
- 13 Mental Health Trusts
- 1 Care Trust
These organisations work in conjunction with 35 Social Services in the south.
Clinical engagement in the south
The South Combined Clinical Advisory Group (SCCAG) represents several local Clinical Advisory Groups in the South.
The SCCAG is a formal sub-group of the Southern Programme Executive and the chair Steve Jones is a formal voting member.
