The standard pilot solution, which has been deployed at 9 Trusts, is based on the Microsoft business intelligence product stack. The solution has been provided by System C Healthcare who have a tailored healthcare dashboard solution called Medway Sigma BI. The solution provides web browser delivery for the dashboard and any drill down reports.

The alternative pilot solution, which was deployed at Portsmouth Hospitals Trust, is based on an pre-existing Business Objects solution. The existing Trust solution called Chimera included an extensive data warehouse and reporting solution that was subsequently enhanced with the Business Objects Xcelius dashboard tool to deliver the specific requirements of the clinical dashboard. This solution also provides web browser delivery for the dashboard and any drill down reports.

As detailed above Portsmouth Hospitals Trust has deployed a Business Objects solution. Nottingham University Hospital Trust have chosen to develop their own solution based on the Microsoft stack but without the use of the System C Medway Sigma BI components. All other trusts use the standard pilot solution.

Both of the technology solutions have been successfully deployed and would provide suitable solutions for other clinical dashboards. It should be noted that there are other business intelligence products and solutions available on the market that the programme have not been able to test, but would expect could also provide effective dashboard solutions.
