About the CDSA programme
Clinical standards underpin patient health records to ensure collection and sharing of records in a consistent manner at the point of care.
Clinical Record Standards are assured by appropriate clinical professional bodies and patient representatives, and reflect professional practice.
The Clinical Data Standards Assurance (CDSA) programme brings together the clinical and professional communities in health and social care, patient representatives and technology resources to ensure that electronic health records reflect professional practice, and support improved patient outcomes and safety.
The CDSA team are experienced professionals with clinical, technical and management skills, and unique experience in facilitating development, assurance, implementation and maintenance of Clinical Data Standards.
The CDSA team:
- works with professional bodies and patient groups to establish authoritative professional and clinical engagement, to deliver and implement national Clinical Data Standards and Clinical Record Standards;
- provides a link between professional bodies and the technical teams within the DH Informatics Directorate;
- facilitates development and assurance of local clinical content;
- and provides a National Clinical Content Repository to share clinical record standards
