National Clinical Content Repository (NCCR)

The National Clinical Content Repository (NCCR) publishes and shares clinical data standards and NHS licensed third party owned content with trusts and practices. This includes the provision of:

  • Forms, scales and assessments (e.g. Waterlow Pressure Sore Risk assessment or the Alcohol Withdrawal Scale),
  • Anatomical diagrams and drawings (e.g. diagrams of human body parts to annotate in a clinical setting),
  • Patient Reported Outcomes Measures (PROMS) (e.g. Oxford Hip and Knee Scores),
  • Technical clinical content such as archetypes, value or reference sets, clinical headings  and document metadata (data about data), including document naming,
  • Knowledge Representation for Decision Support e.g. government/Department of Health initiative or policy. Standard representations of rules such as warnings if attempting to prescribe Digoxin for a patient with a low potassium level,
  • Care planning and pathways (e.g. End of Life Care pathway for implementation in Healthcare Systems),
  • Clinical content standards (e.g. Academy of Medical Royal Colleges record standards, The Discharge Summary Standard developed by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP).
