Clinical safety

The clinical safety team aim to work in partnership, where feasible, with organisations that have an interest in clinical and patient safety, to share lessons learnt and to work collaboratively, ensuring or limiting repetition, where possible.

Key aims

  1. To maximise the benefits of patient safety from new technology and, at the same time, minimise any risks that the new technology itself could introduce so that NHS IT systems can support clinicians in providing better, safer patient care .
  2. Ensure that NHS CFH operates a consistent clinical safety management approach across all stakeholders
  3. To gain their support for activities which develop and nurture a safety culture within the organisation.

How to achieve the aims

  • Raising the understanding of safety issues among NHS CFH programme and project managers;
  • Supporting and facilitating the development of national technological solutions to identified patient safety problems;
