What is the OPCS-4.6 eVersion?
OPCS-4.6 eVersion consists of an eViewer and the OPCS-4.6 classification. The eViewer is a generic application that can be used to view documents. As new versions of OPCS-4 become available, these will be added to the eViewer via additional SETUP files.
What are the minimum requirements to use the eVersion?
The application uses an embedded Microsoft IE browser and requires access to localhost:6473. Therefore, any user of the application must have the ability to open a TCP/IP connection to 127.0.0.1 on port 6473 for the application to function. This may require modification to pre-existing firewall/proxy configuration.
In addition the application requires at least Java 1.4 Runtime Edition to be available on the user's machine. A suitable installation is included in the ZIP file if no suitable JRE is currently installed.
To install the application simply execute the SETUP.EXE file enclosed in the ZIP file. This can be executed with the /SILENT and /DIR as with most SETUP packages.
Do I need to contact my ICT Help Desk to download and install the eVersion?
Yes. NHS Organisations control the software their employees use. This is necessary to ensure licensing, security and other issues are appropriately managed. See How do I get the OPCS-4.6 eVersion on to my computer?
When I start the application I get a "Page not found" or similar error message instead of the OPCS-4.6 content – why?
Contact your local system administrator and inform them of the following information.
The application acts as a local web server and attempts to start a local only server on 127.0.0.1 port 6473. Note: The local web server is NOT accessible to any other machine on the network.
Ensure that you have an exception in your firewall / proxy settings to allow a local (127.0.0.1) TCP/IP connection to port 6473.
Can ICT upload the eVersion remotely to all clinical coders within the coding department?
Check with your ICT Help Desk.
