OPCS-4 eVersion
The electronic version of classifications is becoming the preferred option for publishing clinical classifications worldwide.
In line with the latest trends, the NHS Classifications Service has created an electronic version of OPCS-4. It integrates classifications and associated clinical coding standards as well as offering a host of benefits. This ambitious development delivered an electronic version of the classification that makes a difference to patient care through versatile provision of information for all primary and secondary users of clinical data.
The OPCS-4 electronic version replicates the "look and feel" of the printed OPCS-4 Tabular List and Index paper books. So it will:
- reproduce the OPCS-4 Tabular List and Index in the familiar style;
- have a fast and comprehensive search, navigation and retrieval facility across all areas of the eBook;
- support an individual clinical coder's notes and annotation with both shared and private notes;
- enable coders to email directly from the eBook to colleagues.
The OPCS-4 eVersion installation files containing (OPCS4-6 data) have been released via the Technology Reference Data Update Distribution (TRUD) Service. This is our mechanism for distribution of data files and other resources to the NHS and NHS systems suppliers. You will need to register on TRUD if not already registered. To obtain the relevant subpack you will need to subscribe to the NHS OPCS-4 eVersion (NHS_OPCS4EVERSION) and its associated licenses from the TRUD registration site.
OPCS-4.6 eVersion survey
We want to hear from you if you:
- use the OPCS-4 eVersion regularly
- used it and stopped
- are an infrequent user
- have never used it
The survey, which takes about 10 minutes, asks you about how you are finding it. Here are some of the questions that will help us to understand how the eVersion is faring:
- Is it easy to use?
- How could it be improved?
- If you have never used it how could we tempt you to try it?
Your responses will be used to improve the next release of OPCS-4 eVersion. We cannot promise to implement all your ideas in the next development phase, but we will address as many as possible to enrich your experience of coding with the eVersion and to attract new users.
Please complete the survey by 29 February 2012.
