NHS Classifications Service publications on clinical coding standards
The NHS Classifications Service develops, authors and publishes other training manuals specific to clinical coding specialities in addition to those primary publications listed below. These manuals are issued free of charge to delegates attending our authorised training courses delivered by approved clinical coding trainers and the clinical coding academy pilots.
The principles in the manuals can be considered national standards and therefore useful as a first reference when answering coding queries that may arise in your organisations.
-
Basic Anatomy and Physiology Instruction Manual: a manual which helps clinical coding professionals translate notes in clinical records into appropriate clinical codes.
-
Clinical Coding Instruction Manual for Mental Health: guidance and conventions for ICD-10 relating to this speciality.
