Information Quality Assurance Programme (Data Quality)
The Information Quality Assurance Programme (IQAP) was established by NHS National Programme for IT to ensure that guidance documents are issued to advise the NHS and Local Service Providers of the data quality related standards.
As part of the usual business review processes the actual operational responsibilities of IQAP were considered. In order to provide a front line data quality service to all trusts would require a sizeable central organisation. It was never intended that IQAP would fulfil that remit and therefore it was necessary to define the IQAP responsibilities to be appropriate to those that a central agency should provide.
Maintenance of IQAP publications and guidance is now the responsibility of the Standards Consulting Group (SCG), which will provide appropriate and equitable support for the NHS.
Unlike the former IQAP workstream, SCG has no remit to provide operational support; where there are work packages for the development of IQAP guidance for business areas, these consultants will provide management and facilitation of the development of that guidance, but the funding will normally be from the sponsor of that guidance
