Introduction
The MIQUEST Project has developed bespoke data extraction software, called MIQUEST Enquirer, to assist those managing Data Collection Schemes to adopt the technical approach specified by the Project.
MIQUEST Enquirer software includes an HQL Editor to ease the writing of Queries, a Query Manager to facilitate the distribution of Queries and a Response Manager to organise and aggregate the responses received from participants in the Data Collection Scheme.
National use of MIQUEST Enquirer has been recommended by the NHS Executive and it is also a mandatory part of the General Medical Practice Computer Systems - Requirements for Accreditation (RFA99) scheme.
MIQUEST Enquirer software is Crown Copyright, for use only by authorised personnel within the National Health Service.
Technical maintenance and development support for MIQUEST Enquirer is provided by NHS Connecting for Health, but the suppliers of each GP computer system are responsible for support and maintenance of that system's own internal MIQUEST Interpreter.
NHS Connecting for Health is also responsible for and provides:
- release and distribution of MIQUEST Enquirer software
- maintenance of the MIQUEST Enquirer Technical Specification
- technical advice to GP system suppliers on amendment requirements
- technical support on MIQUEST Enquirer to the various training and support teams (but not to end-users)
- RFA/NAPPS Conformance testing of MIQUEST Interpreter software, including preparation of test packs and test procedures.
