Who has been consulted?
In order to deliver a robust and fit for purpose system, we have sought input from key stakeholders throughout the design and development of the Electronic Prescription Service. The output from these groups has been and will continue to be used to inform communication and guidance material.
Specially-created user groups, which met on a regular basis, provided different perspectives on key design issues. This work has included looking at the live operation of the service in the initial implementer sites.
Reviewing the early operational experiences at these sites has helped to ensure that the potential benefits of the new service can be maximised.
Previous consultation groups
- General Practitioner User Group
- Community Pharmacy User Group
- Dispensing Appliance Contractor User Group
- Joint User Group
- EPS Implementation Board
- SHA Forum
The GP User Group and the Community Pharmacy User Group were combined to form the Joint User Group (in which, dispensing GP practices and dispensing appliance contractors were also represented).
Now EPS has entered the implementation stage, the Joint User Group and the DAC User Group have ceased and a new EPs Forum set up. The EPS SHA Forum and the EPS Implementation Board no longer meet and have been replaced by the EPS Implementation Group.
Current consultation groups
An EPS Forum has been set up, which consists of representatives from professional bodies and clinical groups with an interest in EPS, ensuring a broad representative voice.
The Patient and Public User Group continues to be consulted on a frequent basis. The EPS Implementation Group discusses progress, shares ideas, generates best practice and shares lessons learnt on the nationwide implementation of EPS
