Microtest is the first GPSoC Supplier to achieve Full Roll Out Approval for the GP to Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service (GP2DRS), 22 March 2011
The English National Screening Programme for Diabetic Retinopathy (ENSPDR) is leading a programme to exchange information on patients with diabetes between GP practices and NHS Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Programmes.
Microtest is the first GPSoC Supplier to successfully complete all NHS CFH assurance activities required for GP2DRS, and after a successful pilot period, NHS CFH awarded Microtest Full Roll Out Approval on 22 March 2011.
Microtest have developed an automated and ongoing process for:
- the identification of a cohort of people aged 12 and over who are diagnosed within the GP register as having diabetes;
- the transmission of the resulting data to a central repository so these patients can be invited for annual screening; and
- the ongoing monitoring and transmission to the central repository of changes to the cohort or cohort data.
The introduction of this functionality enables ENSPDR to deliver Phase 1 of their project whereby Local Screening Programmes will be able to access the data extracted from the GP Practices from a central repository. Further details on the GP2DRS project and phases can be found on the retinal screening website.
The GP2DRS service is funded by ENSPDR and therefore there are no charges associated with calling off this service from Microtest through the TDB via Schedule A. An Ordering Guide can be found on the Tracking Database section of this website.
The remaining GPSoC Suppliers are engaged with NHS CFH and ENSPDR and delivery of the GP2DRS service is scheduled as per the table below. Updates will be issued accordingly.
