GP, PCT and SHA involvement in GPSoC

User groups

NHS Connecting for Health (NHS CFH) consults with a number of groups to inform the development and ongoing implementation of GPSoC.

GP Professional Bodies

GPSoC seeks clarification and guidance from various professional bodies including the Joint GP IT Committee, BMA, RCGP, LMCs, and through the groups detailed below.

GPSoC Advisory Group

The GPSoC Advisory Group has been established as a mechanism to engage with the wider NHS. Users are made up of representatives from each SHA, PCTs and GP Users. The objectives of the group are to:

  • to facilitate dialogue between key GPSoC stakeholders i.e. GPs and other users of GP clinical systems, SHA and PCT IM&T leads and primary care leads and (NHS CFH)
  • to influence the implementation of GPSoC in order to ensure that it meets the NHS' collective requirements
  • develop best practice for the delivery of IM&T services in general practice

The GPSoC Advisory Group meets every two months.

GP Pan User Group (GPPUG)

NHS CFH has established the GP Pan User Group as a key mechanism to engage with users of GP systems provided by both Existing Systems Providers and Local Service Providers.

GPPUG will be a visible interface to users of all systems supported by NHS CFH and will support constructive engagement with them. Its objectives are:

  • to improve the dialogue between GP users and NHS CFH
  • to review GPSoC service delivery on a regular basis.

The GPPUG meets every two months.
