Informatics Development

These pages are supported by the Department of Health Informatics Directorate Policy and Planning division. Policy and Planning aims to set standards and influence policy to ensure the NHS develops the skills, knowledge and experience to plan, deploy and maximise the benefits that are realised from IM&T enabled change.

Policy and strategy developed will focus on specific areas, including:

  • delivery of IT-enabled change capability
  • executive leadership development
  • developing trainers and training on informatics
  • health informatics specialists development
  • competency frameworks and tools
  • enabling capability assurance and assessment
  • programme and project management development, strategies and standards
  • knowledge and collaboration initiatives.

The Health Informatics Development workstream focuses on building the capability and capacity of health informaticians, developing a substantial workforce development strategy for informatics specialists.

One of the workstream's projects set out to provide a new portal representing a single point of access to information about health informatics learning and development opportunities. That project led to the development of these web pages.
