A career in health informatics
The NHS is committed to life-long learning for its workforce, including those in the growing area of Health Informatics.
If you are working in, considering a career in health informatics, or are a manager of health informatics staff, it is worth visiting the Health Informatics Career Framework (HICF). The HICF aims to identify and open up career pathways and opportunities, and it is designed to help individuals plan their own careers, and managers to tailor make a workforce.
There are many different routes into health informatics, including, apprenticeships, work experience, applying to be on the Graduate Management Training Scheme, or even completing a HI related qualification.
When you have begun your career in health informatics, it is worth considering joining the UK Council for Health Informatics Professionals, (UKchip), the professional body for health informatics staff.
Once you have established a career in health informatics, the Learning Web section of PHI offers a tool designed to support personal and professional development, including leadership and management, mentoring, change management, self and staff management.
