What is the EITS?
The Essential IT Skills (EITS) service is provided by the Department of Health (DH), Informatics Directorate and consists of NHS ELITE and NHS Health.
What is NHS ELITE?
NHS E-learning IT Essentials (NHS ELITE) is a learning and assessment tool covering the essential IT skills that are required for most NHS staff.
In particular, it covers the IT skills that are required for the use of computer based health information systems, such as how to use a mouse and a keyboard but also covers other skills like using Windows, working with files and applications and how to operate email and the internet.
What is NHS Health?
NHS Health (NHS E-learning for Health Information Systems) is an introductory Information Governance (IG) qualification that covers all of the key IG skills that any NHS member of staff will need to be able to use clinical systems in a safe and secure manner.
NHS Health includes the basics around the most important legislation, policies and procedures that all NHS staff need to be aware of, as well as general best practice guidelines when working with any IT system in the NHS.
It can be used as an introduction to the basic concepts of Information Governance, prior to learners undertaking training using the Information Governance Training Tool (IGTT).
