This guidance replaces the Caldicott Guardian Manual published in 2006 and takes account of developments in information management in the NHS and Councils with Social Services Responsibilities that have added further dimensions to the Caldicott Guardian role.

The Manual should be read alongside the e-learning module 'The Role of the Caldicott Guardian in the NHS and Social Care', which provides more detailed information on all aspects of the Caldicott Guardian role. The module is available at: http://www.connectingforhealth.nhs.uk/igtrainingtool

Scottish and Welsh Caldicott Guardian Manuals

Caldicott Guardian Manual (Scottish version) 2007: A guide for Caldicott Guardians that builds on the English Manual and takes into account the differences in legislation and central guidance.
