With the exception of the IG Toolkit (which requries login details to be created once the application form has been validated), the below steps can be carried out at the same time.

Step 1

  • Complete and submit the application form (which includes details of your NHS sponsor), and any additional documentation (see below) and submit to exeter.helpdesk@nhs.net clearly stating in the email subject line "IG SoC Application for <enter your organisation name> - <enter the SHA region of your sponsoring NHS organisation>"
  • Additional documentation includes: Logical Connection Architecture (DOC, 206.5kB) (only if you are connecting DIRECTLY to N3 - see Section 9 of the application form), Offshore policy and ISMS document (if required - see Section 11 of the application form)
  • NHS CFH will contact you when various elements of the application have been approved or require rework.  Please note that the application form can take up to 1 week to validate, the LCA 3 weeks and the Offshore Policy / ISMS documents up to 8 weeks.

Step 2

  • If your application form is successfully validated, you will receive an ODS Code (Organisational Data Services) - formerly NACS (National Administrative Code Service) - and log in details for the Information Governance Toolkit (IGT), in two separate emails.
  • Log into the IG Toolkit and read the 'Getting started' materials for instruction on how to complete the IGT assessment.
  • Complete and submit the IGT assessment. This must be completed annually.
  • NHS CFH will respond via email when your IGT return is approved. This can take up to 2 weeks to process. Please note that once your IGT return is approved all reports are available on the public facing website.

Step 3

  • Once approval is acknowledged on all requirements of the IGSoC process, the 'Authority To Proceed (ATP)' notification will go through to the BT N3 team. You will be copied into this notification. This can take up to 4 weeks to process.
  • BT N3 will contact you to proceed.

I would like an additional N3 connection (You need to ensure that you have completed the IGSoC process first)

I would like to change the configuration of my N3 connection

  • If you would like to access additional NHS CFH products and services or add / remove / amend your N3 routing configuration please complete and submit the Filter Request Form and submit to btn3ccc@bt.com. Please note that you need to have completed the IGSoC process for the changes to be considered.

I have further queries regarding my N3 connection

  • Please see the 'Frequently Asked Questions' as your first point of call. If your query remains unanswered on this page or if you have any further queries regarding your N3 connection, please contact the exeter.helpdesk@nhs.net clearly stating IGSoC Query from <enter your organisation name> - <enter the SHA region of your sponsoring NHS organisation>"
  • Upon receipt of your query, NHS CFH will confirm receipt via email containing a log number. For follow up correspondences relating to the original query, please ensure you include the log number on the email subject line. This will assist NHS CFH in responding to the query as quickly as possible.
