ITK User Forum and Management Group
In order to support local business need and address local issues, the ITK specifications, scope and priorities are now owned and directed by the NHS through the NHS ITK User Forum and the ITK Management Group.
The User Forum co-ordinated by the Department of Health Informatics Directorate (DHID) ITK Team is open to representatives of any NHS organisation and will provide a platform on which to discuss common business requirements, project information and business intelligence.
The ITK Management Group, drawn from key senior members of this forum and currently chaired by John Thornbury, Director of ICT, Worcestershire Health ICT Services, will advise and prioritise the efforts of the ITK community based on the needs of local NHS organisations.
As specific issues are raised through the NHS ITK User Forum, it may be necessary to create smaller sub-groups that are focused on individual topics. The output in all cases will be an agreed set of business requirements that are consistent across the NHS.
ITK Technical Forum
The ITK Technical Forum provides the wider industry with opportunities to develop technical specifications and accreditation criteria that meet ITK business requirements.
Membership of this forum is available to any interested party, including application and hardware vendors, standards development organisations, technical specialists and the NHS local ICT teams. Collectively, the group is responsible for providing industry leadership and for the development and adoption of ITK technical standards.
Get involved
The ITK User Community is now well established and continues to grow as interest in adopting ITK increases. The NHS ITK User Forum holds regular meetings enabling the community to come together and discuss common issues and ITK initiatives. If you are not already on the ITK mailing list and would like to attend any forthcoming meetings please complete the online Enquiry Form.
The ITK community has a significant web presence on the Health ICT Portal. Both Open and NHS only ITK networks have been created and a number of discussions have been established on the respective forums. To access these networks you will need to register with the Health ICT Portal and join the relevant ITK Networks.
Alternatively, there is also an ITK focussed group on LinkedIn that provides an additional opportunity to get involved.
The inclusion of these links should not be understood as an endorsement of those websites, the site's owners or sponsors. The views expressed within the ITK Network are those of the individual community members and, unless specifically stated, not those of NHS CFH or DHID.
