NHS Number standards

The NHS Number Programme exists to support health and social care organisations in the complete adoption of the NHS Number. In order to develop feasible NHS Number Standards for each care setting area the programme has been separated out to tackle these on an individual basis.

Published standards

At present there are published NHS Number Standards for:

NHS Number Standards currently under development are:

  • Adult Social Care
  • GP Out of Hours

In the meantime, please refer to the Interim Guidance for those organisations already using, or wanting to use, the NHS Number.
