Summary Care Record Advisory Group

The Summary Care Record Advisory Group (SCRAG), supports the implementation of the Summary Care Record by providing expert advice on practical use and by facilitating issue resolution. The Advisory Group was set up as part of the implementation plan envisaged by the Ministerial Taskforce report on the Summary Care Record published in December 2006.

It also oversees the monitoring and learning from the Summary Care Record Early Adopter Programme and monitors the implementation of the recommendations of the Ministerial Taskforce report on the Summary Care Record.

The Advisory Group recommends how the Summary Care Record might be generated for complex or disadvantaged patients and considers how best to protect the interests of those people who do not wish to have their Summary Care Record shared or do not wish to have a Summary Care Record at all.

The Summary Care Record Advisory Group is also considering the Summary Care Record Early Adopters Independent Evaluation report's findings and is providing advice on how the findings will inform the future roll out of the Summary Care Record.

Membership of the Advisory Group comprises representatives of key stakeholder organisations. The chair, David Colin-Thomé, is the National Director for Primary Care at the Department of Health. The Summary Care Record Advisory Group reports into the NHS Care Records Service Programme Board.
