SCR Training
In order to support local SCR implementation projects, a range of training materials is available covering the creation and viewing of SCRs. These materials will support local training teams to develop and deliver tailored training courses to their end users.
SCR National Training Strategy
This SCR National Training Strategy describes the training resources available to the NHS to support their implementation of the SCR. The strategy aims to provide a national framework for SCR training, taking into consideration the interdependencies between NHS organisations, software suppliers and NHS Connecting for Health (NHS CFH).
SCR National Training Evaluation
As part of the ongoing improvement of the Summary Care Record (SCR) training function an annual review of the preceding years training strategy and delivery has been undertaken. The findings of this evaluation are set out in more detail in the document below. This analysis is informing the development of the revised strategy.
Core Concept Training
The following module has been developed to support an understanding of the concepts underpinning the creation and access of SCRs. The module is available to download as either a self run PowerPoint presentation or as an animated PDF file:
GP Concept Training
The following GP module has been developed to build on information covered in the Core module above. It is designed for all GP practice staff in practices implementing SCR. The module is available to download as either a self run PowerPoint presentation or as an animated PDF file:
Viewing & Information Governance Training
The following Viewing module has been developed to build on information covered in the Core module above. It is designed for all staff in locations implementing SCR viewing. It is designed to be an introduction to the themes and concepts involved around viewing SCRs.

Privacy Officer Training
The following Privacy Officer module has been developed to build on information covered in the Core and Viewing modules above. It is designed primarily for Information Governance personnel Privacy Officers and Project Managers. It is designed to be an introduction to the themes, concepts and tools around Information Governance management in relation to SCR.

Train the Trainer
Face to face train the trainer sessions are available for NHS organisations implementing the SCR. They have been designed to train staff who will be responsible for training SCR end users.
The courses cover all of the concept training, some implementation information, training techniques (course dependant) and an assessment (course dependant).

There are three options available for SCR TTT courses:

SCRa Demonstrator
The SCRa demonstrator is an interactive demonstration tool that replicates the SCR Application. To use the tool you will need to be allocated with dummy data.
For further information and access to the tool, please email scrtraining@nhs.net including details of your role and organisation.
Once you have requested access to and received your dummy family data set for the SCRa you will need to follow the instructions in the Summary Care Record Application Demonstrator Instructions (PDF, 471.3kB) document
SCR Automated Demonstrations
Automated demonstrations are available below to show how the SCR is populated and accessed. These demonstrations can be used to support engagement and training activity. The demonstrations below need Adobe Reader version 9 or above to be viewed.

SCRa Quick Reference Guide
The attached reference guide is a master copy and should be tailored to suit the organisations implementation and related processes. For example, the organisation may use option 2 and 3, or 2 or 3 (in which case the process not being used should be deleted from the user guide).
