Installation

Digerati can be installed on the Server or on a PC.  If you decide to install Digerati on the Server and you are a GP Practice you will need to contact your GP supplier to ensure there is no conflict.

Before installation you will need to read Chapter 3 of the 'Administration Manual'.  This can be downloaded via the 'Downloads' link.

System

Digerati will operate on a Windows 95/98 computer with Personal Web Server (PWS) or on Windows NT Server, Windows 2000 or Windows XP with Internet Information Server (IIS).

Web Server

IIS (or PWS) must be installed before Digerati is installed.  IIS will be included on the Windows set up disc.

Right click on My Computer and select Manage > Services and Applications.  If Internet Information Server is not included under Services & Applications it will need to be installed.

Database

Either Access or SQL server can be used as the database engine (MySQL can also be used as a database but has not been fully tested for use with Digerati and NHS Connecting for Health does not support it).  Access will be sufficiently powerful for smaller systems but larger systems will require SQL Server.

Upload Component

An upload component is included free with Digerati.
